DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE TEAM

The Mansfield Township Police Department, in collaboration with Providence House of Catholic Charities, is currently recruiting volunteers for the domestic violence response team. Team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis. Providence House of Catholic Charities and the police department are committed to a multi-racial, multi-ethnic team to serve the community in the best manner possible. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to a background investigation, including fingerprinting. Successful candidates are required to attend a mandatory 40 hour training course, to be held twice per week over a six-week period, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., beginning on Monday February 25, 2008.

An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is bilingual capability. Interested citizens should contact Sergeant David Mueller or Patrolman Jeffrey Smith, at (609) 298-4411, or stop at the Mansfield Township Police Department to pick up an application.
